This article covers card scoring. If you have specific questions about a particular card/player combination that you played - please reach out to Smashup Sports support and we will review your scoring with you.

As an overview - each card operates entirely independently of all other cards. There is currently no concept of stacking of cards or having cards play in combination with each other. Each card operates alone and in isolation.

Cards apply their effects on the raw statistics from the player. Just like each player - each card also has a score. Card Score = The value of the player with the card played - The value of the player without the card played. For example, let's pretend that you played the Starting RB card (RB gets a 1.5x powerup) on Aaron Jones. Aaron Jones scored 10 fantasy points. With the Starting RB card, Aaron Jones scored 10 x 1.5 = 15 points. That means the value of the Starting RB card = 15 - 10 = 5 points.

The key thing to remember when thinking about card scoring is:

Card Points = (Value of Player + Card) - (Value of Player By Themselves)

Here is the card library and a description and example for each card.

For the examples, let's use the following hypothetical statlines.

Justin Fields (QB): 200yds passing, 2 passing TDs, 1 Int, 50 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD = 200 * 0.04 + 2 * 4 + 1 * -2 + 50 * 0.1 + 1 * 6 = 25pts. His longest pass went for 50 yards.

Christian McCaffrey (RB): 100yds rushing, 1 rushing TD, 50yds receiving = 100 * 0.1 + 1 *6 + 50 * 0.1 = 21pts

AJ Brown (WR): 160yds receiving on 11 receptions = 160 * 0.1 = 16pts

Travis Kelce (TE): 80yds receiving, 1 receiving TD = 80 * 0.1 + 1 * 6 = 14pts

Pittsburgh Defense/Special Teams (DEF): 9pts allowed, 250yds allowed, 4 sacks, 1 fumble recovered, 1 interception that was returned for a touchdown = 3 (from pts allowed) + 2 (from yds allowed) + 4 * 1 (sacks) + 1 * 2 (fumble) + 1 * 2 (interception) + 1 * 6 (defense TD) = 19pts

Justin Tucker (K): 2 for 2 on extra points, 3 for 4 on FGs, makes of 35yds, 45yds, and 55yds = 2 * 1 (extra points) + 1 * 3 (35yd make) + 1 * 4 (45yd make) + 1 * 5 (55yd make) + 1 * -1 (missed FG) = 13pts

All Pro K: K: Your kicker gets a 2.5x multiplier to their score

Ex: If you played this on Justin Tucker - Card Score = (2.5 * 13) - 13 = 19.5pts

Hall of Fame K: K: Your kicker gets a 3x multiplier to their score

Ex: If you played this on Justin Tucker - Card Score = (2 * 13) - 13 = 26pts

Scramble Spikes: QB: For your quarterback, all points from rushing yards and rushing touchdowns get a 2.5x multiplier while all points from passing yards and passing touchdowns get a 0.25x multiplier.

Ex: If you played this on Justin Fields - his new score would be (200 * 0.04 + 2 * 4) * 0.25 + 1 * -2 + (50 * 0.1 + 1 * 6) * 2.5 = 29.5pts. That means the Card Score = 29.5 - 25 = 4.5pts

Cannon Arm: QB: For your quarterback, all passing yards and passing touchdowns get a 1.5x multiplier while all rushing yards and rushing touchdowns get a 0.5x multiplier.

Ex: If you played this on Justin Fields - his new score would be (200 * 0.04 + 2 * 4) * 1.5 + 1 * -2 + (50 * 0.1 + 1 * 6) * 0.5 = 27.5pts. That means the Card Score = 27.5 - 25 = 2.5pts

Hail Mary: QB: If QB completes a throw of 50 yards or more, this card is worth 30 points. Otherwise, this card is worth 0.

Ex: If you played this on Justin Fields - it depends on if he had a throw that went longer than 50 yards. Since he had a pass that went for exactly 50 yards, this card hits and this card is worth 30pts. One thing to note is that this is NOT air yards - this is total yards for the throw. So if he throws a screen pass and the WR takes it for 60 yards, Fields is still credited with a 60 yard throw so would get the points for this card.

The Human Vulture: RB/WR/TE: For the selected player, the points from rushing and receiving TDs get a 2x multiplier and points from rushing and receiving YDs get a 0.5x multiplier

Ex: If you played this on Christian McCaffrey - his new score would be (100 * 0.1 + 50 * 0.1) * 0.5 + 1 * 6 * 2 = 19.5pts. That means the Card Score = 19.5 - 21 = -1.5pts

Endzone is Lava: RB/WR/TE: For the selected player, the points from rushing and receiving YDs get a 2x multiplier and points from rushing and receiving TDs get a 0.5x multiplier

Ex: If you played this on Christian McCaffrey - his new score would be (100 * 0.1 + 50 * 0.1) * 2 + 1 * 6 * 0.5 = 33pts. That means the Card Score = 33 - 21 = 12pts

Catching Smoke: RB/WR/TE: For the selected player, each reception is worth 2 points.

Ex: If you played this on AJ Brown, he had 11 receptions so this card is worth 11 x 2 = 22pts.

Catching Fire: RB/WR/TE: For the selected player, each reception is worth 3 points.

Ex: If you played this on AJ Brown, he had 11 receptions so this card is worth 11 x 3 = 33pts.

Not So Wide Receiver: WR: If the selected player does not score a receiving touchdown, they get a 2x multiplier on points from their receiving yards. However, if they do score a receiving touchdown, this card does nothing.

Ex: If you played this on AJ Brown - he did not score a receiving touchdown. As a result, his new score = 160 * 0.1 * 2 = 32pts. That means the Card Score = 32 - 16 = 16pts

Goal in One: DEF: All points from touchdowns scored by your defense get a 5x multiplier.

Ex: If you played this on Justin Fields - his new score would be (200 * 0.04 + 2 * 4) * 1.5 + 1 * -2 + (50 * 0.1 + 1 * 6) * 0.5 = 27.5pts. That means the Card Score = 27.5 - 25 = 2.5pts

Sacks in the City: DEF: Every sack caused by your defense gets a 4x multiplier on that component of the defense score

Ex: If you played this on Pittsburgh - their new score = 3 (from pts allowed) + 2 (from yds allowed) + 4 * 1 (sacks) * 4 + 1 * 2 (fumble) + 1 * 2 (interception) + 1 * 6 (defense TD) = 31pts. That means the Card Score = 31 - 19 = 12pts

Takeaway Car: DEF: Every interception and fumble recovery caused by your defense gets a 5x multiplier on that component of the defense score

Ex: If you played this on Pittsburgh - their new score = 3 (from pts allowed) + 2 (from yds allowed) + 4 * 1 (sacks) + 1 * 2 (fumble) * 5 + 1 * 2 (interception) * 5 + 1 * 6 (defense TD) = 35pts. That means the Card Score = 35 - 19 = 16pts

Goal in One: DEF: All points from touchdowns scored by your defense get a 5x multiplier

Ex: If you played this on Pittsburgh - their new score = 3 (from pts allowed) + 2 (from yds allowed) + 4 * 1 (sacks) + 1 * 2 (fumble) + 1 * 2 (interception) + 1 * 6 (defense TD) * 5 = 43pts. That means the Card Score = 43 - 19 = 24pts

Necessary Roughness: DEF: If your defense holds the opposing team to single digit scoring, add an additional 30 points to your defense score.

Ex: If you played this on Pittsburgh - they did hold the opponent to single digit points allowed. That means their new score = 30 + 3 (from pts allowed) + 2 (from yds allowed) + 4 * 1 (sacks) + 1 * 2 (fumble) + 1 * 2 (interception) + 1 * 6 (defense TD) = 49pts. That means the Card Score = 49 - 19 = 30pts

Big Kick Energy: K: All points your kicker scores from made field goals longer than 40 yds get a 2.5x multiplier.

Ex: If you played this on Justin Tucker, his new score would be 2 * 1 (extra points) + 1 * 3 (35yd make) + 1 * 4 (45yd make) * 2.5 + 1 * 5 (55yd make) * 2.5 + 1 * -1 (missed FG) = 26.5pts. That means the Card Score = 26.5 - 13 = 13.5pts

Double Doink: K: All missed field goals and extra points are now worth 10 points instead of negative points.

Ex: If you played this on Justin Tucker, his new score would be 2 * 1 (extra points) + 1 * 3 (35yd make) + 1 * 4 (45yd make) + 1 * 5 (55yd make) + 1 * 10 (missed FG) = 24pts. That means the Card Score = 24 - 13 = 11pts
